The center of the universe was the Dairy Queen. They didn’t have a drive-through, you parked and walked up to a little window to order your goodies. Families ate in their cars, while teenagers mingled around theirs. Next door was the long, smoky pool room. No windows, males only, minimum age sixteen. My goal in life was to get into that pool room.
